Art Residence at Galleri Hammer

Each summer we provide a selection of artists with the opportunity to come to our property and utilize the facilities to create. Artists are welcome to stay between 30 and 90 days and participate in our summer festival or have their work featured in one of our group exhibitions during the season. Artwork is on display for the public to see through the gallery or on local property. Nearby, the city of Aalborg is home to many galleries and art communities that residents would be encouraged to visit and collaborate with as well.

What to Expect

The gallery, workshop and accommodations are located in the village of Uggerhalne, outside of Aalborg, Denmark. The space is ideal for motivated, self-directed artists who could use some time and fresh air in a new space to invigorate their creative spirit. We offer a variety of tools, materials and spaces alike for a given creative endeavor.

Our goal is to allow for a creative outlet but also maintain a communal spirit. With this in mind, we offer free accommodation to artists willing to put in an hour or two of practical work around the property each day. This could be cleaning or helping with lawn maintenance; just some time of management to help keep the space in working order for everyone.

Accommodations

There are a variety of places to stay during a residency at Galleri Hammer. The property features multiple camper vans outfitted for one or two people as well as two buildings with more traditional room setups. The gallery has its own full kitchen and there are facilities for washing in an adjacent trailer.

There is a nearby town with various markets and shops and restaurants, with bikes on-site for use anytime. A car can be available with prior notice and a valid International Drivers License.
